AI Grading Suggestions
AI will pre-fill grades and comments based on rubrics, giving students either full credit, partial credit, or no credit. Teachers can choose to accept or reject grading suggestions and make any necessary changes. The final grade is still in the teacher's control.

CodeHS AI Grading FAQ
What AI grading tools does CodeHS include?
CodeHS Pro includes three AI grading tools. AI Fast Grade speeds up grading in the Fast Grade tool, AI Grading Suggestions pre-fills grades and comments from your rubric, and AI Hints reads a student's code and drafts a hint you can send. A teacher reviews all three before anything counts or reaches a student.
How does CodeHS AI grading work?
CodeHS AI grading reads a student's submitted code, checks it against the assignment's rubric, and proposes a grade with written feedback: full credit, partial credit, or no credit. The suggestion lands in your gradebook as a draft, where you accept it, edit it, or throw it out.
Do teachers stay in control of AI grades?
Yes. CodeHS AI never assigns a grade on its own. Every AI grading suggestion arrives as a draft you can accept, change, or reject, and the final grade is always the teacher's. AI Hints work the same way: you review each hint and choose how much it gives away before a student sees it.
How do AI Hints help students who are stuck?
AI Hints looks at a student's code, identifies the errors, and writes a hint that points toward the fix instead of handing over the answer. You choose the hint level, from a light nudge to a fuller explanation, and review the hint before it reaches the student.
Who can use CodeHS AI grading tools?
CodeHS AI grading tools are available to teachers on CodeHS Pro. Students never use them directly: AI grading and AI Hints run from the teacher's gradebook and code review tools, so a teacher decides what reaches each student. Schools not on Pro yet can request a quote to add it.
Is CodeHS AI safe to use with students?
CodeHS builds for schools first, so student safety shaped these tools from the start. Every AI grading tool is opt-in, so nothing runs in your classroom unless you turn it on, and no AI output reaches a student until a teacher approves it. The tools are built to support academic integrity, not undermine it.
