Impacts of Computing: Our Community

45min

Students will be able to identify examples of computing devices in their daily lives and explain how technology has changed the way people live, work, and play.

Prerequisites

_Computer Science:_ Students should have foundational knowledge of computing devices.

Lesson Preparation

* Print a copy of the handout for each student to complete during Independent Practice. If printing is not available, students can complete the same activities on blank or lined paper. * Guided Practice uses an interactive activity meant for whole class facilitation. Text-to-speech is provided to support students who may be completing the activity independently. Students completing independently will need devices. * This lesson builds upon the concepts introduced in the kindergarten version (Impacts of Computing: Daily Life), with guided and independent activities scaffolded at a slightly higher level to support deeper understanding.
